What is a weighted blanket?
Our Gravity® Blanket is a high-quality weighted blanket that can help with sleep disorders, restlessness and developmental disorders such as ADHD, Down syndrome, Asperger syndrome or autism. Our blankets are also used successfully for sensory integration disorders.
The weight of the weighted blanket is spread evenly over the body and creates the feeling of a soft and loving embrace. The body relaxes and the stress and anxiety level drops and you then fall asleep peacefully or unwind.
Weighted blankets are more than just a therapeutic tool. They are beautifully designed soft blankets that you can use with comfort throughout the year.
How does a weighted blanket work?
As the name suggests, a weighted blanket is not an ordinary comforter. A weighted blanket is heavier than a normal duvet. The weight depends on your body weight and height. At Gravity®, we pay attention to sustainability and fair working conditions in the production of our weighted blankets. The blankets are made in the European Union. We only use materials of the highest quality, so you get a high-quality product that you can use with pleasure for years and give you a good night's sleep and relaxation.
Other suppliers have their blankets produced at a factory in China, which is often made of inferior materials and under poor working conditions for the employees of the factory. Therefore choose a high-quality and honest product.
What is the difference between a weighted blanket and a normal comforter?
Normal blankets are often filled with down or feathers. Our weighted blankets are filled with micro glass granules to make them heavier. The granules are very small and you cannot feel them. Our Gravity weighted blankets are hypoallergenic and can therefore also be used by people with allergies. In contrast to normal blankets, the fabric of the Gravity blanket is permeable to air (breathing), so that the temperature under the blanket is and remains pleasant at all times.
Are weighted blankets dangerous?
No, weighted blankets are safe. Babies and children under 5 years old or under 20 kg should always use the weighted blanket under supervision. When children use the blanket alone, it should always be easy for them to remove the blanket.
Patients with advanced type 2 diabetes should not use a weighted blanket because the blood circulation is weakened. Under no circumstances should a weighted blanket be used on patients with a so-called diabetic foot.
Persons with kidney problems (particularly patients on dialysis) should check with their doctor whether a weighted blanket is allowed for them.
It is important that you can always remove the weighted blanket yourself.
